Statera explores the idea of balance through contrast, combining organic lines, layered textures, and exaggerated proportions into a sculptural sneaker. The silhouette was developed as the first footwear project for Studio [xo-se] in collaboration with Zellerfeld, with the goal of creating something visually bold while still feeling wearable.
 
Designed specifically for Zellerfeld’s fully 3D-printed footwear platform, the process focused on understanding how the technology could influence the form and construction of the shoe. Organic contours and directional lines move through the upper, while layered textures and quilted proportions add depth and give the shoe a softer, more comfortable visual character. The outsole started with a more aggressive lugged construction before being refined into a versatile everyday traction pattern, making the final shoe easier to wear without losing its original attitude.
 
Statera became an early exploration of how digital footwear and 3D printing could open up different approaches to form, proportion, and construction. Rather than treating the technology simply as a way to manufacture the shoe, the design process used it to explore what could be done differently with the silhouette.
