TRANSFORMING SCULPTURE INTO FOOTWEAR.

The Winged Victory Heel was developed in collaboration with Selfhood as the brand’s first venture into footwear, translating the dramatic language of the Winged Victory of Samothrace into a sculptural footwear concept. The project began with Selfhood’s vision to transform the figure itself into the heel, extending the flowing forms of the statue’s draped garments into the platform to create a continuous sculptural expression beneath the foot.

Working from the brand’s initial concept, the heel and platform were refined through digital development and 3D modeling, exploring proportion, structure, and the relationship between the sculptural form and the functional requirements of footwear. Multiple iterations were developed in close collaboration with Selfhood and their manufacturing partner before arriving at the final design. The upper was developed separately by Selfhood, while the heel and platform formed the primary focus of the design development.

The final design brings together fashion, sculpture, and footwear through a highly expressive construction that transforms a historical work of art into a contemporary object. Alongside the footwear development, 3D visualization and product renders were created to help Selfhood evaluate and present the concept before entering production.
